Drosophila

Drosophila melanogaster is a small fly called also fruit flies or vinegar fly; typically pale-yellow-reddish-brown color with red eyes. It has been used in genetic researches, because it breeds quickly and lays many eggs.

Drosophila is a common pest in food industry: restaurants, bars and other places where food is served. It has the tendency to infest habitations and be present where a fruit is found. It might be difficult to remove it, as the larvae may continue to hatch on other fruits even if all the adult population is eliminated.
